Hey All,
I've had 6 SBOs in the last 4 years and my doc and I have decided it is time for surgery to correct this problem.
My doc starts laproscopically but says that typically he isn't confident that he sees everything he needs to and then does open surgery.
Anyone out there had this done? How did it go for you? What was your recovery time?
Any tips you can offer?
See ya!

Assuming the surgery you're heading for is lysis (cutting) of adhesions, one important thing to do is have realistic expectations. There is a real risk of a frustrating outcome. The surgery generally creates some new adhesions, so you have to hope they are less troublesome than the ones you're getting rid of. The surgery definitely helps some people.

When it's your only reasonable option then you just go ahead and do it. I think it works best with your eyes wide open.
