I think I just had a partial blockage. I ate some pecans on Saturday morning and a hot dog Saturday night. I started feeling bad shortly after eating the hot dog. I think the blockage passed on Monday.

What foods should I avoid to prevent future blockages? I think I need to avoid nuts (hopefully it was them and not the hot dog). Other posts mention coconut, mushrooms, oranges (presumably just because of seeds since OJ is harmless). Anything else?

I agree with Sue. I was nervous my 1st year, avoided a lot of things, and I think it was just because the recovery for me was so long and uncomfortable. I blamed everything on blockages, but I think it was just the pouch slowly expanding, and me needing time.

I'm 4 1/2 years out, and I eat EVERYTHING. Just know that I won't end up in the hospital after eating grapes and popcorn, or drinking lots of wine, but I will be on the can all night! You can eat it all..just chew, chew, chew, drink and eat slowly. Not to be graphic, but mushrooms don't exactly get processed as normal (and come out looking like mushrooms), but it has not caused me any problems. I still eat them. And, I eat almonds every day in my yogurt...not a problem. Good luck. It'll all work out.
