Hey guys

Having a rough day today, aside from my valve and pouch misbehaving (not a big deal, I'm use to that), I'm having not just discomfort, but pain, and lots of it, where my rectum use to be. I've mentioned this before, but it's never been this bad. Any of you with missing rectums (now there's a phrase you don't here every day!) have it this bad, was there anything special you did to resolve it? Just curious, today is my favorite day of the year, and I can't even go out to enjoy it, but, there's always next year. Besides, it's suppose to rain all night, not much fun for trick or treat! Oh well, happy haunting all!

Cheers,

Have you been bopping around lately? Standing more than usual? Walking up stairs or uphill? Jumping? Riding a bike?
All of those have a direct effect on the phantom rectum (love the name)...they make it feel heavy, like it wants to fall out of your bottom, swollen, sharp pains, throbbing etc...all in all, no fun...but as long as there is no fever, chills or throwing up then a few tylenols should put pay to it...if on the other hand it doesn't calm down in 3-5 days then call Dr C and have him sneak a peek...
So sorry about the trick or treating...I had my annual Halloween party on Sunday (8 kids under 8 + 10 parents) and am still recovering...will send pictures.

Improved again yet Eric? Even though an abscess sucks, at least if it's fixed, you might not have to worry about that area again for good.

How about the anus being removed. I wonder if it's a phantom anus sometimes more than a phantom rectum? I'll find out one way or another soon I guess. As long as it eventually chills out, I'm on that plan.

Good luck, and definately keep us updated if that's cool.

Thanks guys, but for now, the pain is gone. I was actually at Dr Cohen's office to rush along my back to work forms (going nuts sitting at home all year), just happened to speak to the doc. I told him about his issue, he told me it's perfectly normal to have these pains. He told me I probably pulled a muscle lifting or sitting, and I have been lifting a lot a heavy things, I had no fever, so he said not to worry, he did mention, however, if it persists, go to emerg as it could possibly be an access, but before I left, he checked me out, no problems. Apparently, it's a life long issue for many K pouchers, the muscles are still there, but in a strange way, cross wired after having the rectum removed, just one more thing to get use to I suppose, but thanks for the advice! Wish me luck, I go back to work this coming Wednesday, been off over a year, it's going to be exhausting at first! (Starting with modified hours).

Cheers!
