I've been nauseous off and on for at least 3 weeks. I had a partial obstruction weekend before last. I was a week past the obstruction when my Internist ordered lab work and x-rays of my abdomen. She poked around my abdomen and said it felt better than she can remember since my surgeries 4 years ago. If it wasn't for my recent nausea I would be trilled. I am not experiencing my usual abdominal pain which is awesome as I've reduced the amount of Norco, hydrocodone/tylenol, I need to take. I'm not taking Loperamide or any other bowel thickening medication. I've only vomited once, a few days ago.

I don't know if it has anything to do with my j-pouch but am guessing it does. My lab work came back ok but my nausea persists. If I don't consume very much I can make it though the day. It seems the nausea occurs after eating more than a serving of Greek yogurt at a time.

I've searched past comments and can't find a situation like mine. There has been no changes in my diet. Help! I am taking anti-nausea medication and it does help but doesn't explain why I am experiencing the nausea in the first place.

She ordered and I had 4 abdominal x-rays. They don't have the results back yet, according to her nurse's email. That perplexes me as they were the least invasive diagnostic I've had in years and I had them at her office. I would think that she would know by now if the x-rays indicated anything abnormal.

My operations were around 4 years ago. I had a CTscan, x-rays with contrast and pouchoscopy at Mayo in July. I have chronic cuffitis and pouchitis and I am there's been no changes the medications for my chronic migraines and GERD. My treatment plan appears to be working and I've been off of antibiotics for several weeks.

If it wasn't for the nausea I would be happy as my j-pouch and abdomen are feeling better. Do any of you have any ideas what could be causing my nausea?

Seems more upper GI than pouch related to me. Since you already know you have GERD, I'd look into that first. Just because your meds have not changed, your GERD may have. Especially with it related to the size of your meal, it seems upper GI, like your stomach is not emptying properly. This is common with GERD. Diabetes too, but I know you are not diabetic. Plain abdominal films would not show it. Problem is that the meds for gastric motility (Reglan) aren't good long term because of side effects. The less Norco you can take, the better.

I sent my Internist a link to Mayo's information about Gastroparesis, like your link here. I hope her nurse passed it to her to read. Thanks for confirming my suspicion about the problem. I've gone off of my GERD medication to see if I still need it several times and I think this nausea is different, but who knows? I'm going to schedule an appointment with one of my GIs.
