on flagyl and prednisone and son still having problems

My son was in the hospital at the beginning of July for 4 days. Pouchitis, sepsis and SIRS. Came home and was doing fine. He is now on Prednisone 25 mg and Flagyl and started having problems all over again. Diarrhea, slight stomach pain, etc... He is also on lomotil 1 tablet at breakfast, lunch and dinner and 2 at bedtime. Is there ANYTHING else I can do? I feel so bad for him, and of course this happens on the weekend

As sick as it sounds like he was...I would have small trigger for returning. He could have picked up c diff which the flagyl might not take care of. Is he on probiotics? Have you called his doctor? Thoughts your way
