Hi ladies,

I was wondering if anyone had issues with their abdominal wall incisions opening during pregnancy. I've had my J-Pouch for over 15 years and my OB was really happy with how my scars looked but recently I've developed stabbing pains just below my sternum and a bulge if I tense my muscles! I had the misfortune of perforating my colon so I have a vertical incision from sternum to pubic bone. Up until this point, I've been really happy with how my scar has handled all of the stretching. It got a bit wider and I had some itching but nothing cocoa butter and a nights sleep didn't fix. I was on the smallish side most of the second trimester but around 28 weeks my belly expansion really picked up (baby went from too small at 14th percentile around 20 weeks to 50th at 28) and my uterus reached my ribs. I am about to hit 31 weeks. I know I had some issues with healing in this region because I have a few wide spots. I am scared that my muscles never really healed properly and that I am developing a hernia. Has anyone else had this happen to them? Is there anything I can do to help with the discomfort? I am seeing my OB in two days but its stressing me out because I really don't want to have surgery AFTER my c-section to fix a hernia.
