I had a pretty miserable weekend fighting bowel obstructions. I did all the usual stuff, grape juice, baths, massages etc. and things seemed to clear on Saturday after a loooong Friday night. Respite was, however, temporary as I had symptoms again Sunday evening, eventually ending up in the ER.
Once again, situation cleared up and I'm at home, but am looking for some experience and advice from the group.
Even though the acute stuff has passed (so to speak), I'm still fairly uncomfortable. My whole belly aches dully. I'm currently trying ibuprofen and a heating pad on low.
Any thoughts on controlling this discomfort and preventing recurrence? This is my 5th obstruction episode since my take-down 10 1/2 months ago.
Thanks for the help!

I just wanted to share with you my experience, not necessary is what you have.

I had similar obstructions. Several episodes and ER visits over 8 months period. The final one didn't clear for days. This was while I was in Hospital. Finally, I ok’ed my surgeon to go in to see what is causing the blockage. It turned out that my old stoma site was narrowed. He cut that part out. It's been 3 months since the surgery and I am doing good so far (knock on the wood). Hopefully yours is not that serious and no surgery is required.

It is important that you don't take Ibuprofen. It slows things down and may make obstruction worst. Of course NSAID also increases the chances of pouchitis.
