Hello Everyone:

I think I am finally at a point that I feel in control and well enough to try for children. I am 33 years old. I had a total colectomy at 16 in 1998 and had both adhesion removal surgery and a sphinterotomy (sp) in 2013.

My current GYN--as nice as she is--is just clueless about pouches. Does anyone have any advice about knowledgeable GYNs in or around Richmond, VA?

Also, i think my pelvic floor is weak due to all of my "issues." Did anyone struggle with the additional urge to urinate while pregnant?

Lastly, should I just go ahead and request to work with an IVF specialist?

Thanks for your advice. Warm regards,

Sana

I became pregnant naturally once. I'd say try first (they generally need you to give nature a chance, first, before jumping to IVF stuff). I never needed IVF, but never conceived but one child. Had I had more, I would have needed it, as I'd had a large ovarian cyst removed the year after her birth, and he was a fertility specialist who, based on my innards, was surprised I'd even had ONE child naturally.

I requested a C section to spare the sphincters.

Many non-j pouchers have very increased urination during pregnancy. As a poucher, my stool frequency increased, but I really don't remember urinating more... But probably because each stool time had a pee time, too, but I was more focused on my pouch.

My daughter was born when I was 31. I'm nearly 43 now. Smiler
