Hi Everyone,

I am 30 weeks pregnant and my daughter 3.5 started vomiting terribly 4 nights ago. Yesterday at 5 am I was hit hard. Some vomiting but mostly profuse diarrhea. Im totally raw from going so much and am having some incontinence. I am worried that my pouch isn't going to be the same. I have never had this kind of incontinence, sneeze and you know, etc...I haven't taken metamucil for a long time but thought maybe it would help. Any other thoughts to bulk things up? Will my pouch recover? Is being pregnant pressing on the pouch, making it worse? Any experiences or thoughts greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Kate

My main concern for you and your babe is hydration. I picked up a norovirus a year or so ago. I came very close to going to the ER due to dehydration. Lost 6 pounds in 2 days. I drank a lot of broth and Gatorade. Fiber supplements are fine to thicken, but avoid slowers because you need to shed the virus.

If your urine becomes concentrated or you become dizzy, go to the ER for IV hydration. The good news is that this resolves almost as quickly as it ramps up.

I agree- could be very dangerous bc of dehydration. I’m got it in the fall and was in the hospital for 3 days just for fluids. That’s wirhout being pregnant. Call your doc and see what they suggest. Just be careful not to let t go too far.

As for your pouch, I believe it will be fine. I find when I’m sick i have incontinence too. It makes me nervous that things won’t go back to normal but they do. I’m not even sure why it happens. Prob another good question for your doc. Take care!
