Hello Everyone,

I normally only come here when things are really bad and I'm desperate. However, this time time I figured I'd change that and share some good news.

Since I had the last of my three J-pouch surgeries, I have had incontinence during the night which required the use of Depend or similar products. It's been going on for so long, I honestly figured that's just how it would be.

About 2.5 months ago, I noticed each morning the diaper would be clean. After about 2 weeks of this, I stopped putting them on at night. And since then, I have not had any incidents. I now wake up (or at least think about waking up) when I need to go.

This has been a truly amazing development for me and I very grateful for this. The biggest gain is the comfort aspect, anyone who ever used Depend or similar products knows that they are not comfortable at all. Also the travel anxiety of always needing to pack them, and of course cost! Other than my wife, I can't even share this news with anyone! So I'm sharing it with everyone here.

I still struggle with chronic pouchitis which only seems to respond to antibiotics, but this this development has been bringing me joy every night.

POUCHOMARX - I honestly don't know. I wasn't making any changes to try to help this, it kind of just happened. I was thinking maybe my anal sphincter build up for the the years and finally they are able to hold it down while I'm asleep? It's not like I've been doing kegels on a regular basis (although I was the first year or two post surgery). Sorry that I can't be helpful with this! But what I can say, is that some things just take time.
