Hi Doug, from my own experience prednisone can cause increased pressure inside the eyes. If you feel it that clearly you should go to an eye specialist who can messure that pressure and prescribe you eye drops in case it really is elevated.

Thank you both.....unfortunately I had to go out of town for work but I will be back tomorrow and will certainly follow up with an eye specialist.  My GI finally responded and wants me to drop the Prednisone from 30mg to 20mg but keep me on it until my third dose of Entyvio which will be July 1st. He also said to go to an eye specialist and I will as soon as I'm back in town.

There is definitely something going on with my left eye. I have pretty good vision for distance...do not need glasses...but up close and personal has become difficult lately...but yes, what's going on now happened within the last few days...I can feel pressure in my left eye which is blurry and even "darker". I sure hope this is temporary....will keep you posted.

Unfortunately Prednisone and any steroids will do that

Ok, I seen my eye doctor and he basically said it's a retina tear with fluid buildup?...could be caused by steroids?...I'm still kind of confused...

He said I could go to a retina specialist but they wouldn't do anything yet anyway??? It should heal on its own but may take 6-8 weeks ?!?...

If not, it would need a laser procedure to correct it.....

Anyway, my infusions start tomorrow and after my third loading dose (July 1st) I can come off of these dreaded steroids.....

Hopefully my eyesight doesn't get any worse. He was actually surprised I could see as well as I can...but closeup is a real pain in the ass!!! I am needing to use my phone's camera...and zoom in to read certain things, lol....I've got a big dark circle clouding everything up on my left eye...I think I may try wearing an eye patch over it and just use my one "good" eye for now.....

....have I told you how much I HATE Prednisone?!?!?!?!?!?;?;?;!

@Doug Kenipe If the eye doctor you saw was an optometrist then you might want to get to an ophthalmologist soonest, even if you can’t get into a retinal specialist immediately. There are other options than waiting, and I’d be uncomfortable waiting without expert guidance. For example, you might be able to switch to budesonide enemas, which would have less systemic absorption than oral prednisone. Good luck!

Thanks Scott. I ended up at my regular family eye care doctor. I've been trying to get in somewhere else but nobody here wants to see a new patient......my family eye doc...becore I seen him...even originally referred me elsewhere but I had to see someone.

He did dialate my eyes, run tests, take pictures, etc...and showed me the issue on screen.

The left eye, instead of being a flat line...or lines...had a hill on it that looked like Mt Everest, lol.

Again, he did say he'd refer me to a retina specialist??? but they wouldn't do anything yet??? I don't know...seems strange just waiting.. I think I would feel better seeing a specialist...maybe someone can get me in...but I have been trying...thanks again.

If you don’t have a regular ophthalmologist you *might* get reasonable attention at an ER (yes, I know how awful that sounds) - especially if you can go to a teaching hospital. They’ll generally have an ophthalmologist on call, but it could be a long, expensive process. Alternately you might get results by pressing for an urgent referral by the doctor who is telling you to stay on prednisone.

I hope the whole thing turns out to be no big deal, but hope isn’t a strategy.

Hi. Yes, I hadn't had one for a decade. But just yesterday had one and it looks like I have a very tight stricture on the outlet of the pouch. Less than 5mm. So I have a surgical consult. I'm 50 so I'm leaning toward taking out the j-pouch. I'll find out more in the next two months!  FYI - the reason I didn't have a scope is that I was never having any issues with my pouch until now. G.I.'s told me if it ain't broke, no need to scope it. Go figure!
