Can you please share details of expert j pouch surgeons across india/uk/Ireland /US?

my 10 year old kid has full colectomy done (severe UC) and currently having a stoma bag. It kills me everyday to see him not being able to go to school or play with other kids normally.

Right after his colectomy procedure, he was severely losing weight, hence I delayed the 2nd step (to have a j pouch). It's been 3 years  he has recovered quite well, by God's grace and everyone prayers, hence planning for the take down and j pouch surgery as soon as I find an expert surgeon who I can trust and who is patient friendly.

Please advise.

I’m sure you will get many recommendations for highly qualified surgeons.  My own surgeon is highly qualified and a genuinely great guy.  He is Dr.  Vikram B. Reddy at Yale New Haven Health in New Haven, CT, USA.  I’m sure there are surgeons that meet these qualifications close to you as well.  I had 3 surgeries with Dr.  Reddy, with no complications and very good recoveries.  It will be three years this  coming August.  I was very lucky and grateful that he was my surgeon.

Although I didn’t have any of my 4 bowel surgeries at Yale, I did have my cancer surgery there, and have heard great things about Dr. Reddy although he wasn’t my Pouch surgeon. I wouldn’t hesitate to use him based on feedback I have gotten on him (I live in the New Haven area).  I got very good care at Yale New Haven Health, for thyroid cancer.

Also very good is Dr. Steven Gorfine of Manhattan Surgical Associates/Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, who performed or assisted on all 4 of my bowel surgeries. He is now at an age where he may be focusing more on teaching at the medical school than performing surgery, although I am speculating and don’t know that for a fact. He is as experienced as any Pouch surgeon in New York City. He has probably done as many J Pouches as anyone - been doing them since the 1980s when the surgery started in mass.

There are many great surgeon all around the globe, mine was performed at Appolo hospitals in Ahemdabad, India. The surgeon was Dr. Lakshman Khiria. He specialises in colon transplants so it was a piece of cake as he said for my case. Also he's had great experience in the field. I talked to him any of his past patients jpouch failed he said never for anyone who was below 50. Thats all the assurance I needed.

Another good surgeon sits in Hyderabad , India at Asian Institute for Gastroentrology. He's very renown surgeon. His name is Dr. D Nageshwar Reddy . This guy is the best there is in India. I wanted to get the surgery done by him initially but due to some reason couldn't .

You can google them up. All the details are mentioned on the hospital pages.
