Hello,

I am 5 weeks out from my take down surgery.  For the most part I feel good.  My main problem is I have Nausea on average every other morning.  It seems to be tied in with lack of sleep.  Anyone have or had those issues.  I am using Zofran and Compazine to control after symptoms.  I have tried Ginger.

Are you taking any meds in the morning? Do you eat anything in the mornings?

I find that certain vitamins and meds give me nausea at around 10am (vit B, certain pain meds...) so I eat a banana as soon as it starts...seems to work but if you eat already and take no meds then it could be stomach acid or the morning coffee that does it (or just not enough food!).

I do not take any anti-nausea drugs but find that carbs seem to work (toast)...

No other ideas here.

Thanks so much,  I have seen my gastroenterologist and she says it is not unusual to have nausea after this type of surgery.  We are pretreating in the evenings with compazine.  She also put me on a probiotic.  This seems to be working.  She said they don't know why the nausea starts or why it ends but she does expect it to  end on its own.
