Howdy all. I'm just under four weeks post-takedown and things have been going great so far. I still would like less BM per day but I'm hopeful that will come soon.

My question is about when I should be taking fiber/Imodium? I'm have a glass or two cookies at breakfast and dinner but not sure if it's best to consume if before the meal or after. What's worked best for everyone here? Same for Imodium.

Imodium should be taken before you eat, 30 to 60 minutes. Or if you are needing it regularly, then you can just take it throughout the day, up to 8 tablets, which might mean a maximum 2 in the morning, 2 at lunch, 2 at dinner hour and 2 before bed. You can adjust the timing up or down as you need more/less. If that's the case, then you don't really need to worry about timing it precisely with your meals, just stick to your usual schedule.

My surgeon recommended taking the metamucil before bed.
It probably does work better to take the imodium before eating. I think I'd forget so I take 3 imodium in the morning with breakfast and that's also when I eat the wafers. Imodium has a half-life so if you take it daily you'll have a bit that's still effective.

If you want to space your imodium and wafers out during the day then yes, take both before meals.

Imodium definetly before you eat. At least 1/2 hr before a meal to let it absorb.
Fiber usuallu with meals. When I was using the metamucil wafers, I would eat 1 wafer with each meal. Helps bind everything together and absorb liquids.
Now I just use 1 tsp of powder mixed with a glass of OJ with breakfast about 4 days a week. I'm 12 years post-op and have found that's what keeps me balanced best.
I would think everyone is a little different and has to find their our routine.
