i have had my j pouch since 1996.  I haven't had very much trouble with it. Haven't been to dr. For anything that has to do with j pouch since my follow up visits Back in 96 and 97.  I have regretted  getting this j pouch and don't want deal with doctors anymor.  Don't know what pouch itis is or symptoms.  Can someone share symtomsptoms of pouch itis and what you take for it.  I read that some people on here take Metamucil for watery stools. Does anyone know if it helps with gurgling noises too.

I am confused. You've had your j-pouch for over 15 years, had little trouble with it, but regret getting it? I understand not wanting to deal with doctors, but once you have a disease that destroys your colon, you sort of require some sort of lifelong follow up.

If you think you have pouchitis, you need medical treatment, which means contacting your doctor. Metamucil does not treat pouchitis, but may treat the watery stools it causes. Pouchitis is an inflammation if the pouch, often presumably due to an inflammatory response to bacteria. Antibiotics are the treatment.

I suggest you go to the pouchitis forum where you can get a lot of information.
