I'm 35 years old, ten months into my resection recovery and I am preparing for a long distance race. What successful strategies have you implemented prior to race day, during the race and after the race? I'm concerned about hydration, repeated potty breaks, foods, etc.
For long distance cycling, you may consider optimizing your fat metabolism. It is a bit complicated to explain in a post, but decreasing your dependence on carbohydrates could be a good thing and you would need to eat less. This might allow you to focus on keeping hydrated. A good place to start is the book, The Art and Science of Low carbohydrate performance and websites like www.vespapower.com have a ton of info. I hope this at least helps a little. Good luck!
