Can all the ladies please tell me what it is like living with a working jpouch and a fistula? Is the leakage constant? What about sex? If you try and bulk up the stool does it leak less? Any other info would be greatly appreciated.

p.s. Yes Metamucil helps decrease the leakage, and yes sex is okay with a fistula.

Been dealing with an R/V fistula for 3.5 years now. CJB is completely right, bulking up does help and sex is fine (although bathing afterward has been recommended to me). Some fistulas are more active and larger than others, and every fistula can act up more at different times. A lot of how you deal with it comes down to your attitude and how it is affecting your daily life.

I think every fistula is different. I had to revert to an ileostomy due to fistula, cuff iris and pouch iris. The fistula pushed me over the edge but in combination with the other stuff. Living life much happier now! Good luck!
