My stomach is killing me. I have pouchitis regularly and I have a rectovaginal fistula that I am just dealing with because I don't want to have surgery because the surgeons said I will most likely end up with a perm. ileostomy. Question. I feel like my system just needs a break. Has anyone's Doctors ever put them on a low residue liquid diet for a while just to calm down your stomach and intestines?

Not for the same reasons but yes.

I lived off of a semi-full fluid diet for months...my pouch was twisted an I could not transit solids safely.

It took about 48hrs for my body to stop asking me for solids and then it became 2nd nature.

That said, I have put myself on to liquid diets to clear myself out for extended periods of time without any difficulty..you just need to maintain hydration, protein and vitamins...a liquid supplement or gummy vit might be needed to keep strength and energy up.

I always feel better after a couple of days and my pouch is a happy camper.

It does not hurt to try but please listen to your body if it is telling you (especially since it is the summer) that something is wrong...beware of dizzy spells, nausea, light headedness, tingling in your arms or legs etc.
