Yes, it's an antispasmodic. I haven't taken Levsin, but I have taken Buscopan which is a similar antispasmodic. It gave me blurred vision and made me feel out of sorts. The side effects were not pleasant but I only took the med on a very short term basis so I can't attest to whether not the side effects improve over time.

Your frequency doesn't seem that high so it wouldn't have been the med I would have expected either, however it may address some of the excess gas by calming your gut so it isn't working in overdrive.

I take it to stop the urges to go.  Spasms. And I was having urges almost constantly all day.  I don't have the urges now which is great.   Works quite well although I only take it once a day instead of three.  I take it just before my biggest meal of the day.  And it works.
Make sure you do take it before the meal.
As for going right after you eat.  I do that all the time now.  Some times it takes a bit longer than others.  But I am guaranteed a bm after a meal.  I figure it is a norm for me....one meal in... One meal out!
It's not a rush to the bathroom.  Thank goodness.
I hope it works for you.

Motility... You made me look it up... Lol.  Yes.  It will calm it down.  And yes I agree 10 trips is normal.  I didn't have issues such as blurred vision but I am not taking the prescribed amount.  One a day does the trick.  But it may be different for you.

The combination of Levsin and Elavil is common for IBS and IPS. Helps with the pain and crampiness. It does not do anything for gas, but can help you be less aware of it. Studies show that those with IBS do not actually have more gas, but that they are more sensitive to the movement of the gut and the pressure of the gas. Tricyclic antidepressants help with that issue and the Levsin relaxes the gut.
