Yeah your muscles relax at night and poop isnt hard enough plus theres a pressure of gas that leads to leakages sometimes. Use gauges if you cant hold it back and try to go as less as you can. Slowly your mind will not let anything come out that easy and you'll wake up before anything does .

I don’t agree with the blanket claim that “it will always happen.” I used to have nighttime leakage, and I don’t any more. The difference is that I got my pouchitis under control.

There are multiple causes of leakage, and plenty of them can be treated.

Will taking probiotics help with leakage/Pouchitis.  I’m only 4 months in from takedown and I’m trying to learn and get many suggestions as possible. I still wear a pad at night and during the day. I’m trying to get away from that and be comfortable.

Angie, it’s possible that probiotics will help, but they wouldn’t be my first choice. On the other hand, it’s easy and safe to try. At four months in pouchitis is possible but probably not the most common cause of leakage. Have you tried psyllium (or other soluble fiber)?
