Has anyone on here with a j-pouch tried the Ketogenic diet and experienced increased butt burn due to what you're eating and looser stools? I had been doing keto for a few months and losing weight but I was having some of the worst butt burn I'd had in quite a while. Then I developed a major peri-anal abcess that U had to have surgery to drain. I wondered in the persistent butt-burn because of incontinence lead to the abcess? Anyone have experience with that? Thanks in advance.

I was cautioned by a dietician when I inquired about the keto diet for myself.  She said that the keto diet stresses the kidneys quite a bit and with a j-pouch we are in a state of slight dehydration all the time due to the lack a colon.  This also stresses our kidneys.

I tried it for about 2 weeks and didn’t like it.  I am vegetarian and had a difficult time so gave up and went back to my normal diet.  I have to admit however that the keto diet saved my cousin’s life (she has all her bits) and she is thriving on it.
