I am sick of constantly being anemic. I replaced six of my old silver/mercury fillings a few months back. I'm trying to eat more red meat and watching my diet when it comes to raw vegetables and most fruit, no more nuts or beans or any vegetables with a skin. My latest colonoscopy came back as the best the doctor has seen since treating me in 2009. I had my regular two month blood work done Tuesday, and got the call that the hematologist doc wants me to get iron (which is three IV's with iron sucrose). I just finished up five weeks ago with the last three week interval of iron. This is getting really old. They always claim that with the j-pouch there is critical parts of my lower small intestines that is missing, which could be the reason I'm not assimilating iron. There also the active ulcers from the disease. The gastro doc did some blood work in regards to activeness of my Entyvio in my blood in the middle and end stage of the eight week cycle of the drug. He is going to move it up to every six weeks in hopes of arresting the activity of the disease, but it all could be about missing plumbing, I'll have to wait and see. Anybody else having these same problems?

This is a lifetime journey. Ya just have to keep Checking levels. I get Hemoglobin, iron saturation, ferritin levels and thyroid panel checked every 3 months. If it starts plummeting then I get 2 iron infusions 2 weeks apart and it’s worked so far. It is what it is and I just accept it. Plus, I feel so energized after the infusions. The Infusion that I get is called Injectafer. Good Luck LETLIVE27

I don't feel energized after any of my Iron IV's. I just notice after a while that I'm doing better while walking or getting things done. I also hate getting the needles stuck in me. I've been doing the iron infusion since my reversal in 2003. After getting stuck sometimes six times, since I had terrible veins - side effect from Demerol and the Phenergen they always had to stick in your IV from possible nausea. They don't do that anymore. I even had a port at one time, but it broke after a couple of months and ended up coiled in my heart like some sleeping snake.
