I was just wondering what your general use of Imodium is like? I know from reading some of the posts on here I have seen some people that take it anywhere from 4-8x a day daily. I talked to my surgeon's office and they said to only take it once a week? The reason I ask is because I would like to get back to my profession of teaching elementary school eventually, and I think at least one dose of Imodium may make it easier to make it through the school day with no worries? Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Once a week???? Really? No offense to your surgeon's office, but I never heard such nonsense. It has a long half-life, but not THAT long.

My personal story? I took 8 a day for about 6 years. Hen reduced to 4 a day. 18 years post op, I now take 1 a day.

Things change and you should be open to adapt. Go with what works.

Jan- thanks so much for your reply!! Smiler I love my surgeon and his staff and on most things hey are quite knowledgable, but on this topic I felt better trusting those of you that "have been there"! I think there's some things you can't understand fully unless you actually have the jpouch. Haha. Thanks for the advice! I think once I make it back to teaching I will start with one a day and see how that goes. Do you take Metamucil or any fiber daily??
No, don't take fiber. I tried it early on, but Metamucil caused gas and cramps for me. Citrucel was tolerated, but it did not reduce my trips to the toilet, just thickened the output. I had no problem with continence, so I just stopped taking fiber after about 6 weeks. It just made me feel full. Others swear by it though...
