I have been taking 8mg of the generic of Imodium (Loperamide) for 8 years.  Usually all four 2mg pills at the same time every morning.  I recently noticed that there is a side effect of heart issues if taking more than the daily limit.  I have not had any heart issues, but I'm starting to wonder if I might be better off trying some other way to thicken up BMs.

I had my rectum removed during the surgery and things are kinda tight down there, so if I were to get a solid BM, that might kill me.

Another issue I have is probable scar tissue at the takedown area of my intestines, I uncommonly get blockages in that area that require time, exercise, stretching and belly massage to get things running again.

Thoughts?

I think Immodium is fine. I have talked to many people on Immodium for long periods of time, I personally think its fine but ask your colon surgeon or gastro to be sure or even a heart doctor

FOODS: Oatmeal thickens things up for along with high fiber foods

**You can always space out the immodium to be safe. 4 pills I think you said right??? 1 in the morning, 1 in the afternoon, 1 in the evening, 1 at bedtime **
