*I posted this in the Ostomy And Skin section, but wondered if it would get more views here and, therefore more feedback, so here goes:

Hi everyone, I've practiced yoga for the past nine years, skipping only the ten months during which I had a temp ileo. Once I began using my j-pouch, I resumed my practice. I will have my perm ileo surgery in less than two weeks and am anticipating getting back as soon as I am able. If any of you has experience with yoga and an ileo, can you tell me how it affected your practice? I know there will be a learning curve for me, but I figured I'd get as much feedback beforehand as possible. Thanks for your input and happy new year!

Doing Yoga with an ileo is not much of an issue. Empty the pouch before beginning. I always wear loose fitting clothing (man) so the bag is loose and tucked away beneath the elastic waist band. A few of the postures can be a bit constrained if the pouch has much material in it, i.e. spinal twist on the bag side but very few. You can always get up and empty but I never have. Namaste
