Hi, my name is Suzanne and I live in the LA area. (I'm 56).

I am having a total colectomy on July 11, 2013, and I'm still in the process of deciding if I am going to go for the J-pouch or just have a permanent ileostomy.

It has been very helpful to read the posts in your forums. I'm looking forward to participating and getting support from people who have "been there, done that, and have the T-shirt" for what I am going to be going through.

UC for over 10 years - annual screening colonoscopies since then.

Colonoscopy on 3/6/13 showed a mass in the rectum that was adenocarcinoma.

Had 26 treatments of radiation therapy with Xeloda, which were completed on May 8.

Genetic test in April revealed that I have the family HNPCC/Lynch Syndrome gene - the EPCAM deletion.

Surgery scheduled for July 11 - total colectomy.
