I had a systemic infection last week and they put me on amoxil for an 8 day run...by day 2 my pouch started to hate me...things slowed down to a crawl (I have a k pouch and contrary to j pouches, we need things liquidy in there in order to get them out with a tube)...I am now day 6 and all I want to do is throw up..Things have now slowed to a full stop...grape juice and other liquids are doing nothing...I have just given up on solids and am on soft fruits and veggies (prunes and tomatoes)...will start a full run of probiotics as soon as I am done but for now I feel like I am walking around with a pouch full of concrete!

sounds yuck! my j-pouch likes antibiotics, but i can see how that would be an issue for k-pouches......

even with a j-pouch I sometimes feel "backed up" and like there are molasses or sludge trying to move through my system. yuck!

fortunately your course is almost finished. sounds like you've already tried grape/prune juice, hot liquids, soups, going on an all-liquid diet.... not sure if hot baths, heating pad, long walks would help things to move along. yogurts...? too bad we can't drink alcohol on antibiotics, otherwise i would have suggested some vodka to clean out the pipes!

after you're done, you can have a nice "spring cleaning" inside and get a good empty pouch! getting rid of that systemic infection will be worth it!
Get your rear in gear and MOVE!!!!
It doesn't matter how much, how often or where to but MOVE Laney....
I really want to stay in bed and hide most days, I don't sleep well anymore (my mom just died), I have constant and permanent hip/sacral pain and I have lost my savings, home, jobs and friends...But the one thing I still have is my ability to walk, run, climb...it is the only time during my day when I feel free and normal...I started by walking around the park (headphones and my favorite music help a lot)slowly, as often as possible and I had to push myself every step of the way...now I can run 50-100meters (yards) at a time and then walk to recuperate and run again...and I climb the hill or stair (79steps) as many times as I can...that is my revenge on my body, health and condition...some days I just can't stop because after it stops hurting it starts feeling good...
I will never be a marathon runner but I refuse to be glued to my sofa 24/7...

ps...I have moved up to prune juice...it is helping
