I'm am a concerned mother whose son was diagnosed with UC at age 13.  By age 17 with unsuccessful attempts at remission using cipro, flagyl, prednisone, pentasa, lialda, 6MP, uceris, sufasalazine, Remicade, & Humira and unable to function at school and weight dropping, his colon was removed October 2013. The J-Pouch surgery was complete March 2014.  In April he had an intestinal rupture requiring emergency surgery and then a bout of pancreatits with removal of gall-bladder by January 2015. He has been through it but never complains. God has been faithful!!!

Unfortunately, he is now dealing with chronic pouchitis.  He is not responding with any long-term relief from cipro or flagyl and now is on Lialda & Uceris. Watching diet intake of sugars and grains. He has tried Canasa suppositories and this seems to help some so I wondered about antibiotic or steroid enemas or suppositories.  Also very encouraged by a post about  metronidazole gel for pouchitis and going to call his doctor today.  He has been on tumeric one capsule per day for a while now.  What is optimal dosage do of tumeric?  Interested in oregano too so going to as MD about this too.    Any other suggestions?
