17 - My daughter will be having her colon removed next Monday, July 30th and sometime after that having the 2nd surgery where they form the J-pouch. She has a blood clot in her leg that the drs want to get resolved before they do the second surgery so they are thinking it will be 6 months down the road before they do that.
Diagnosed with UC age 20
Toxic megacolon, removal of colon and discovered two small intestinal tumors, removing them, and receiving a temp ileo, age 21
First step of j pouch age 22
Surgically fix and drain a huge abscess age 22
Final takedown age 23
Removal of rectun, j pouch, creation of K pouch age 43 (five weeks ago)
Hopefully that's all for now!
Had my takedown about 2 weeks before I turned 28. I was diagnosed with UC last October and it seemed like it happened overnight. I have always felt really healthy and was very active then I went to work in North Dakota for a week an got sick. By the end of the week the pain was so bad and I was pooping nothing but blood every 15 minutes. When I got home I went to the doc and got a scope and he said I had severe UC. Within 2 months I lost 60 lbs and tried every drug to no avail. I opted for surgery and now feel great. What I thought was weird was I had no symptoms my whole life and within a week my Colin had gotten so bad the doctor said it was ready to fall apart when he took it out. It definitely changed my outlook on life! I don't take anything for granted now!
