Same thing happened to me too! Just be careful!

J Pouch life expectancy is different for everyone. I have met people on here that have had Jpouches for over 40 years and I have met people on here that their Jpouch lasted under a few months. It depends, things can go wrong or right, nobody knows what the future holds, I would just say plan for the worst, always have a back-up plan and enjoy the present

Well, that all depends on what you consider the “life” of the j-pouch. The tissue certainly does not have an expiration date any more than your stomach does. That said, your risk for pouchitis does go up as time goes on, and depending on your tolerance for chronic problems, it could last a lifetime, or not. Just remember, all our body parts age and develop issues associated with life on Earth. My j-pouch is over 25 years old now and has not disintegrated yet!
