Very carefully lol!! Joking aside, I know I cannot pass gas standing up so I don't even try....it's too risky. Sometimes sitting I'm successful but usually I have to be lying down. Or sitting on the toilet of course. I try to remember to take Beano (digestive enzymes) with my food to cut down on gas forming in the first place. I have found it helpful.

I can but only by accident. That might occur during rare moments while I'm running and I had no intent on passing gas at the time. Otherwise about the only time I've ever really had any control of it is at times when I'm lying on my back. On the other hand when I'm lying on my stomach, I have no real control over it Frowner
Basically, yes, because gas rises and if your butt is even slightly higher than the bottom part of your J-pouch, the gas should be close to the exit. I'd use some protection in case you pass more than just the gas. BTW....I like gas because I really feel it is a duct cleaner-outer. Once it is out of me, I feel "good to go" (literally) for quite some time!
