I am 8 months post take down and from time to time I have horrible diarrhea that burns and hurts to wipe. It is almost impossible to sit down at work afterwards for 20-30 mins.
I take metamucil every morning along with Activia and tons of water. I am currently using liquid Lomotil and Immodium from time to time. The pain is excruciating!!!

I have talked with my PCP about this, and the have checked for hemorrhoids and given Hydrocortisone suppositories and also Tylenoyl 3 and 5mg Hydrocodne. The hydrocodne really helps slow things down and make the pain/discomfort a bit more bearable.

There isnt any blood, I can feel a bump on the side of the rectum, which was never there before. I use a ton of Calmoseptine and Nystatin, but nothing seems to help... any ideas suggestions??

Hi,
Sorry to hear you are so uncomfortable. I agree with beucfree, you should be seen, as abscesses can occur and it is best if you catch it early. It could also be a fissure. . .

You can also do a search of the forums for "abscess" and "fissure" and see what comes up, as your symptoms may be similar to others who have experienced these.

Best of luck!
This sounds like cuffitis to me as I experience many of the same symptoms with the bumps you descrube in the cuff. You do not always bleed with mild cuffitis but you will feel the burning and irritation you are describing and may also bleed intermittently on and off. Canasa suppositories often help as do hydrocortisone ones. Unfortunately for some of us this often becomes a bothersome issue that requires long term rectal meds for
maintenance.
Occasionally I get this indeterminate cuffitis and/or a thing my doc called a fizzure because he didn't know what it was and fizzure was the closest thing he could think of. It was HORRIBLY PAINFUL when I emptied, and, like you, for a long time afterwards. The acid in the stool is extremely irritating and, for me I had to get that under control before I could heal because things just kept getting irritated every time I emptied. My doc prescribed Questran (I've seen a few different spellings). It binds the acid in the stool and there is no burning. I don't know if it was coincidence or not, but I began healing immediately once I started the Questran. Now, as soon as I start to think things are going downhill, I take the Questran and things don't get worse.

Good luck. I still, three years later, remember how horrible this was. I tried everything from meds to not eating for three days (that just created more acid)in a desperate attempt to slow things down. Hydrocodone helped me too, but Questran was the buttsaver(:
