Well....very frustrated. After years of chronic anemia, iron infusions, blood transfusions, huge hemorrhages and multiple loose diagnosis I was finally told yesterday they found a tumor in my small bowel. My GI docs always assumed my problem was IBD because of my UC history and my jpouch. They didn't think I may have something else going on too. I have to go in for a balloon enteroscopy on Monday to biopsy and tattoo the tumor so the surgeon can find it easier and remove it. I guess I can't have a laparoscopy due to previous surgeries and scar tissue. Silver lining is the years of anemia, hemorrhages and blood transfusions will hopefully be over! I kept telling my docs I didn't have anemia like this when I had active UC, something wasn't right but I couldn't get an answer. Now I have one.

I hope all goes well for you. You didn't say anything about cancer so am hoping that the tumor is not cancerous.

Another Zebra story....
A friend of mine's doctors were treating her for her crohns, including prednisone and Humira. She got so bad she couldn't walk without a cane. Long story short, Mayo clinic discovered the problem is in her pancreas and had her wean off of prednisone and immediately off of Humira and some other drugs I can't remember the names of. It angers me to no end, the local docs had her on horrible drugs and told her she could "hope" to get better, they couldn't do anymore to help her.

How can a doctor do this is beyond me. My GI couldn't figure out what else to do for me so his nurse got me into the Mayo clinic. That is the sign of a good doctor, they are not afraid of telling you they don't know what to do so sends you to another doctor.
Doc did say it could be a number of different things including a fatty tumor best case scenario. He said if he had to guess he thinks it's a carcinoma or a GIST tumor (both are small bowel cancers). I'm hoping for a GIST because 80% of GIST tumors are benign. Hospital called today and I'm scheduled for a CT tomorrow with enteroscopy on Monday. I'll hopefully know what it is soon.
