I'm currently in the gate on my way to my takedown surgery. It'll be my last because if my jpouch doesn't work out, I'll get a perma stoma. But I hope that won't be necessary because I love pooping. I want to give it a year and see if I keep getting better. If I don't and I'll be in pain all the time, I think about a stoma surgery. Is that a good time frame?

They removed my 5 cm long rectum completely (why it was left so long I have no clue) and my jpouch was twisted. That's what was causing me pain.

Hi, have you been paying attention to your diet? Smaller amounts through the day and I found that less fibrous worked better, non gaseous items. Huge difference with what I eat. No carbonated drinks!
You are early in this and the body needs adjust. It’s a slow journey. Up and down times, really sending you the best of good thoughts for recovery.

Everyone out here is on your side , keep reaching out .

It's been a month now and I'm doing pretty well. I'm eating 1 to 2 meals a day. I'm no longer in pain when I eat. I found metamucil helps a ton. I mostly sleep through the night and I don't need diapers. Gas pain is manageable with gas-x and beano. I have a food journal so I already know what can cause me gas. And I can release gas over the toilet. This wasn't possible before. I felt really discouraged in my last post and the first week after. But things calmed down. It can only get better right?

Yes it takes a while to get the hang of it.

I'm a little over a year out and I'm still fine tuning things.
