Hello guys, I'm new to this site and am currently living in the UK. Recently I've been considering paying for my colectomy rather than be on the waiting list for a long time. Given that healthcare is free in the UK my knowledge of the private sector isn't the best and I've been struggling in the search for any private healthcare since the websites are very vague in their message.

I'm hoping that there might be some UK posters who can help me in my quest to find a good place.

Your GP should be able to refer you for private healthcare, the same as an NHS referral. In some cases the NHS surgeon will be the same person as the private surgeon, they just split their time between the two and you get quicker appointment times if you pay.Your GP may know the best local surgeons, either way, so it's a good place to start if you struggling with the self-referral route.
