Hair loss is pretty common in people with IBD

Use Hair Scrunchies not elastics: elastics cause damage to the hair and increases hair loss. Hair scrunchies are much healthier.

Use a wide-toothed comb when combing hair, it takes out less hair and less damage.

Pink oil moisturizer it great for hair at keeping the hair and scalp moist and gets rid of dryness. Typically in the ethnic section at stores, cheaper at Walmart and Target.

Supplements: Iron pills and vitamin D.

Just a note on iron supplements, courtesy of my GI doc. They shouldn't be taken unless there is an actual deficiency or need and in such cases iron levels should be monitored. Taking extra iron can mask blood loss and it can cause mucosal irritation in the small intestine in addition to cramping and stomach upset.

On the other hand, Biotin, a B vitamin, might help hair grow faster. -- Rose
