So she said there were no signs of cuffitis which is a relief but the anal canal is severely irritated and cut. I am in alot of pain especially at night. She suggested a hydrocort suppository. Of course I had some left over from my UC.Well it was excruciating to use them, plus I feel they are getting past the cuff into the pouch. I requested a proctofoam script. I think that would be easier to keep low. I am concerned though about the frequency, would anal irritation affect that. When she checked the connection to see if she should do a finger dilation, she said " oh your wide open" logically would that cause issues with frequency. She didn't say it was a problem but I wonder. I was up for times last night - had oreos though, I am able to pass gas though. I think I was passing it all night until I felt I had to definitely go - not much comes out though. Switched to immodium too. she said one a day but I think I might need two. so confusing and not fun..10 weeks post takedown.

You are right that proctofoam would be better for staying low than a suppository. You can also take some of the excess foam from the applicator (not sure if you've used it before, it will be obvious when you see it) and just apply it to the outside area with your finger.

Being "wide open" just means you're not strictured, it doesn't mean you would go more or less often.

Anal irritation usually comes from either eating high fiber foods (doesn't sound like you are) or from having so many bowel movements that all of the wiping is irritating the area. How do you clean yourself after a BM? Do you use barrier cream? Is it possible you're having small amounts of leakage, especially at night?
