I'm older, as well.....post menopause. I see a gynocologist who may know something about J-pouches or may not. The only time I bring it up is when I tell her, "No rectal exam." and when she recommended a hysterectomy I reminded her I had a J-pouch and was concerned about adhesions being present and in the way of lapro surgery. She referred me to a gyno surgeon who was extremely experienced and he did a wonderful job on me!
My GYN I had when I had my first 3 jpouch surgeries knew nothing about a jpouch. I had to explain it to him every single visit. But after I got my jpouch disconnected and had a diverting ileo.. he could not comprehend my anatomy at all. And I was having a lot of female problems. So it was then that I decided to find someone who knew about jpouches. After all .. all of those parts are pretty tightly cogmingled in our pelvic areas!
