Hey guys, I feel very bad that I have been away for so long, I had a 3 step J pouch in 2004 and after I got all better, BTW the pouch is SOOOO much better than UC, I kind of stopped coming to the site on a regular basis, although I did pop in on occasion to research a problem or to just catch up on the latest. My problem is now this, after 10 or so years I have started to need the service of a good GI that knows J pouches. I have been unable to find a suitable GI in North Alabama.  Any suggestions from anybody?  I am in the Florence/Muscle Shoals area of North Alabama.  My local family Dr. has done a good job so far, I just think I need a good GI to "look under the hood" so to speak and make sure all the equipment is in good shape, after 10 years.  Thanks in advance for your help...BTW I am open to any and all questions if you need any advice that I can provide.

I've been using Miles Greshan in Trussville for the past 8 or so years.  I also saw Dr. Brasco in Huntsville a few times back in '06, but when we had our initial discussion about the possibility of surgery, he ruled out the j-pouch completely and said a permanent ileo is what he'd recommend.  I didn't go back to him after that.  Dr. Gresham is as good as any other GI I suppose.......I think they're all somewhat hamstrung when it comes to treating UC since they can really only go down the list of medications till something works.  I haven't seen him since my surgery, but I'll definitely continue to use him as needed after my take down surgery.
