In a few of my previous posts, I had mentioned that I had one appt with a GI/Nutrionist who said she was excited that she could help me with my diet and provide me a script for VSL#3 once I am off the meds for Pouchitis.

She had sceduled me to have blood test for many deficiencies and a breath test to messure for bad bacteria.

My next appt was to be on August 20th. This past week I get a phone call that my appt had to be cancelled and they were forwarding my records to another practice not far from their location.

When I asked why that happened, they would not tell me. I said that my insurance covers 3 visits for Medical Nutrition Therepy per year and not I have lost one visit why did this happen because I was looking forward to the help I was promised.

All they would tell me is that they were not a liberty to discuss it with me and then hung up.

That is it. Nothing else to go on.

This sucks

My first thought was that perhaps the doctor has come under some disciplinary action and has been forced to cancel her appointments. Can you look her up online and see if there have been any reports filed recently? We have the means to do that here in Ontario; I'm not sure how it works for the US.

Either way, you are owed an explanation.
DJBHusky and Spooky,

The receptionist called me. Never talked to the GI herself. I've tried going on-line to see if something happend like maybe she was fired or something but nothing like that comes up.

In fact, she has recommendations of being on the radio and newsletters.

Its a shame really because she came highly recommended from a Nutrionist at our local Grocery Store (Shop-rite). In any event, I contact this other group where they are providing my paper work to schedule an appt.

I can try to call back and demand an explanation but I doubt that they will give me one, after all, its not like they broke any laws or something.
You are still entitled to an explanation.

This reminds me of a personal injury case a few years ago in which my client, who had neck and back injuries, was treating with an orthopedic surgeon. She went to see the orthopedic surgeon for her final exam and I sent the group $1200 for a final medical-legal report, an outrageously exorbitant sum even for a Fairfield County doctor where report fees are generally obscenely expensive. She went for her appointment but I got no final report. It turned out that her doctor disappeared. I was told that he left the group and went to another State. They would give me no contact information nor would they tell me why he left.

I then told my client she could go and see another Doctor, and I would ask for the $1200 back, or else she could be seen by another Doctor in the same group. She did not want to go to another, new group and instead saw another orthopedic doctor in the same group. He gave me the worst report ever, basically did not answer my questions and opined that my client should be seen by a neck specialist. In fact my client had already been seen by a neck specialist and he had deferred an opinion on permanent partial disability to the doctor who mysteriously vanished.

The difference in your case Rocket is that you are the patient and you are entitled to know. If she has not been arrested or stripped of her license tell them you want to speak to her. Do not accept this situation. Stand up for yourself or nobody else will. Good luck.

To me this says either personal issue (illness, drugs, death, family issues) disciplinary issues like malpractice, board cert or insurance accreditation issues or something happened between them and the practice that left bad blood.

Crappy situation. You'll probably never know the real story, although if you haven't already pop his/her name into google news and see if anything comes up.
Very strange. Where are they sending you?

I was going to call the woman you are referring to about nutrition since I am still battling anemia. I have an appt. with Dr. Bednar at HMC (he's a hematologist) to try and finally get to the bottom of this. Sorry your appt got cancelled but maybe the new place can help??
