Hey everyone, after having my recent issues and subsequent pouchitis I really want to get to grips with what is exactly a good nutrition plan to follow. I seem to loose weight easily and really wanna put some weight back on without having major drawbacks from eating the wrong things. I work out a lot and I'm a personal trainer in my spare time, I would like to carry on weight training but the key to the success is the right amount/type of foods I consume! Please can u inform me to what u think works and how u balance you're dietary needs. MUCH APPRECIATED Drew

Drew,
What kind of diet do you eat now? What are your restrictions pouch-wise? What does your pouch like or dislike?
First you have to make sure that your body accepts it before you really can integrate it into your diet...some people are successful on soya protien or whey others can't take them...I do well on chicken and fish, a little red meat and lots of steamed, green veggies and salads with only minimal diary and carbs...add that to a daily exercise routine and you shouldn't have a problem either way...Building muscle or losing weight...
I take a multi-vit and a multi-mineral plus copper, iron, b complex and calcium. But I am a girl and that is what works for me...you need to check your levels first before adding suppliments and integrate things slowly into your diet, small doses and see how you feel.
I also make a lot of smoothies with tons of fresh fruit and ice...nothing else so I get good general nutrition.
See if it works for you and then tweek it according to your specific needs.
Hope that this helps
Sharon
I'm like Scott: minimal dietary changes for me, too. I'm most affected if I don't chew well (at the outlet), so I also tend to avoid mushrooms, corn, nuts, stuff like that (though I ate it all for years with no issues).

I'm lactose intolerant, so I minimize milk products or use a dairy aid.

I agree, though, try things and weed out what doesn't work for you, as we are all different.

Like Sharon, I tend to avoid lots of carbs, but when I do eat them, I make sure they're small portions, countered with meats and veggies, and things are usually ok.
