Hey everyone! So I have a question. My husband has Crohn's and I have FAP with a J-Pouch. We've been trying for 2 years to get pregnant with no luck. I had a HSG test and they determined that my left tube was blocked due to the scar tissue (I had the bikini cut for my surgery which I now regret). My husband was also tested and they found that everything was OK with him. Has anyone else had a difficult time getting pregnant?

I'm also thinking of having a surgery done to clear my left tube, but I just can't bear the thought of another surgery. Has anyone had that surgery? I might feel better hearing from someone with a pouch who had it done.

Anyways, thanks for listening and for any feedback! Cool

I was able to get pregnant once. It only took 9 months. A year after my daughter was born, I had a large mucoid ovarian cyst removed, and the fertility specialist who did the surgery said my daughter was "an act of divine intervention," based on the condition of my insides, and said that while I was a good candidate for IVF, I'd likely have trouble getting pregnant naturally again. He was right. We never did the IVF route, and were content with our one beautiful little girl. Good luck.
Hi PippiThePirate!
My husband and I just started the quest to get pregnant. I also had an HSG and my right tube is blocked from surgeries. I do not know if it would make you feel any better but I had the good ol' boring incision and I still have a blocked one. We just started on clomid this month. Feel free to message me if you want to talk! Good luck to you!
Have you had any luck getting pregnant?

We have been trying for about a year now. We have a 3 year old boy pre j-pouch.
Any suggestions? I have a doctors appointment in a few weeks. The doctor had mentioned that if we have a hard time getting pregnant they would look at the tubes for a scar tissue blockage. Frowner
My cycles are pretty regular although my luteal phase is a bit short around 12 days I think.

Any suggestions and/or thoughts would be appreciated!

Good luck to you!
I want a baby in the worst way! I have been through IVF 5 times, and I got nothing out of it. This was while I had my ostomy, now that I have a j-pouch I woulnt mind trying again but my husband says, he is done! that it was alot of tears excitement then back to failure again. I understand the expense, the emotions, yes it is alot but I am not ready to throw in the towel quite yet. Any Suggestions I wouls appreciate! LJK
Yes I was willing to have my tubes plugged to have a baby. I had 1 frozen embryo left and I went for it (the surgery, once they are plugged by a MD thats it you will never concieve again on your own anyway) The day I arrived they of course hooked me up to an IV and then took to begin the surgery. Well once he was in me he could not even find my fallopian tubes. So the surgery did not happen I have too much scar tissue. So basically I had anathesia for nothing!!!! I still have hope I have been faithfully doing yoga for infertility. This is now my only option other than adopting!!!!!!
My experience goes back 30 yrs but after my k pouch surgeries I had a hard time getting pregnant ( I got married between surgery 2 & 3 and was pregnant for surgery 3...lost it post-op)...The HSG showed 1 tube blocked and my uterus folded over in 2...they thought that it was a congentital deformation)...funny thing was that a year after the HSG I got pregnant naturally. Same thing happened in my 30's after the 2nd HSG...got pregnant twice within the 3 years after it...my uterus couldn't hold the babies and I lost them but at least I was able to concieve (you take consolation where you can)...
I have a good friend in perfect health...no surgeries, no pouches...she started IVF at 35 after trying for a few years without success...both tubes blocked...She did 10 rounds...a few took but nothing held on...She lost at least 6...By then she was in her 40's and the Govt stopped financing them (yes, here the Govt paid 10 tries)...at 44 her hubby decided that they would regret not doing one last try so he paid out of pocket. I am the God-mother of a lovely 7yr old little girl.
I never had the courage to go for IVF because my problem was 'double' but the rest of you should follow your dreams as far as your hearts take you.

My husband and I tried for 4 1/2 years to get pregnant. I too had a hydro on my right tube and my IVF doc said that if I didn't take care of the hydro, my chances of IVF success were slim. He told me about the ESSURE procedure, which is a procedure used to block tubes for women who aren't good candidates for surgery. I had this done in order to block the fluid that was in my tube from draining into my uterus and killing any embryo that would be transferred during IVF. Long story short, I did one frozen cycle of IVF after I had the ESSURE procedure and now I am 22 weeks pregnant!!! If you have a blocked tube, I would look into the ESSURE. Good Luck! And feel free to inbox me if you have any questions.
