This morning at 2am I woke up with dreadful gastro/food poisoning. Vomiting, diarrhoea, uncontrollable shaking - it was scary although I was actually too taken up with orienting the right body part to the toilet to worry.

At 6.30 am I phoned my dad to drive me to our local hospital to get checked out just in case there was something j-pouch going on. Thankfully there wasn't. I got x-rayed, blood tests, IV fluids and plenty of monitoring in a nice quiet room by lovely staff. It was almost enjoyable to snk onto those clean, soft hospital sheets and be taken care of.

Back home now, sipping water and nibbling dry biscuits (aka crackers). No signs of any thing nasty beyond a nasty bug. I am exhausted. It was certainly an interesting 12 hours!

I know how you feel and you have my deepest sympathies. I had a similar episode in August. I didn't go to the hospital, but it was close. Took a few days to turn around. Lots of chicken soup.

Thank you, Jan. I am feeling much better now, although I still don't think I look 100% around the eyes.

Sorry to hear you had a similar experience.
