Forgiveness

Today, for those of the Jewish faith, is the day of attonement...it is the day that we ask God to forgive us for our sins but it is also the day that we are supposed to ask others to forgive us for anything that we have done to cause them pain, discomfort, harm and any other thing that we may have done or not done to them...
This includes not being present when we were needed or defending them when someone else has hurt them.
I would like to take this day to ask you all to forgive me for anything that I may have done to cause you all hurt, pain or harm and I hope to do better in the coming year.

By the way your post about Yom Kippur reminded me to call my mother. We had a conversation that started like this:

Me: "Mom, do you wish for my forgiveness?"
Mom: "For what???????????????"

After that, when she realized the religious import of my question, she told me she had planned to go to the temple local to where she lives in Florida, in order to repent and ask for forgiveness. Unfortunately, she has a Baker's cyst behind her knee and it's really bothering her, so she did not make it to the temple.

I am not familiar with the Jewish faith, but wholeheartedly ebrace the notion that each and every one of us, myself included, are imperfect beings. We are all capable of causing hurt and offense, even when we mean to do the opposite.

Having a day of humility and requesting forgiveness is a wonderful concept. Let's have a clean slate all around!

Thank you for sharing this with us Sharon. I would also like to ask everyone on this site to forgive me anything that I may have done to cause you hurt, pain or harm and I hope to do better in the coming year.

As a Christian I will add that I forgive anyone that has done anything that caused me hurt or pain on this site in the past, there is no need to ask me for forgiveness.

As was sung in a great Disney movie "Let it go".
