It's a good diet for IBD folks, but it's a bit restrictive. I would suggest the UMass IBD-AID diet, the only diet specifically designed for people with IBD by medical professionals. It's similar to FODMAP:
I did the 3-week Fodmap on the advice of my gastro and was unable to identify food triggers. All in all, the diet wasn’t too much different from my regular diet. The hardest part for me was eliminating non-wheat breads.
I meant “...hardest part was eliminating wheat bread.”
If that does not help, I would definitely suggest a vegetarian diet with high protein. I have had nothing by success with a vegetarian diet with high protein. Just another option
I have been following it, but not strictly. Kind of using it as a guide to calm down the gut. I think it works. The Monash fodmap app has been helpful for me to check foods to see if they are high in fodmap and therefore I should not eat much. Eliminating onion and garlic was the hardest for me, but you can make garlic oil and cook with that successfully and replace leek greens or scallion greens for any sliced or chopped onion. I think it has worked for me. I have also added the herbal supplements Dysbiocide and FC Cidal. I take 2 dysbiocides and 1 FC cidal per day (sometimes I forget) and if I am having tummy issues, I up the dosage to 2 each in the morning and 2 each at night. I have not given up wheat bread.
Thank you!
