I wish my doctor had listened to my previous complaints regarding my symptoms. He has always been such an optimist, that I feel intimidated if I dare to complain about any symptom that I am experiencing.

I have been on Flagyl for the past 3 days after being diagnosed with pouchitis. What a difference! My stools are much darker, thicker (but not too thick) and my spasms / need to clench has diminished greatly. I actually feel like a normal person with a colon (one that is not diseased). Makes me feel like I probably have had pouchitis since my TD in April.

I don’t even have a bad reaction to eating dairy Wink! My dosage of Flagyl is for 10 days. Maybe I can stop my other Rx of lomotil and bentyl……. I am on 4 different medications and all of them claim “dizziness” as a possible reaction and I am tired of the light-headedness and dizziness when I sit up or stand up.

I pray that I my previous symptoms do not return.

Amazing...you took the words right out of my mouth. I started taking Flagyl Monday for the first time. I have been taking 5-6 Imodium a day since takedown and that was 2 1/2 years ago. I have been able to completely stop taking them and everything has improved for me just as you have described. My usual normal has been about 8 times a day, but a little over a week ago that amount greatly increased and it became complete liquid. Figuring it must be the dreaded thing I have read so much about...pouchitis. I called my doctor and he called in the Flagyl. I am amazed at the change. So much better than I have ever been since takedown. Makes me wonder if I haven't had a mild form of pouchitis the entire time. I know many more people go more than the 8 or so times a day I had been going, but the difference I feel makes me also concerned about going back to my old normal. I am now only going 3-4 times a day and don't have that feeling of urgency.
