I'm 5 years post colectomy with j-pouch. Becoming more frequent are times when I cannot pass stool for up to 24 hours. During that time, I have lower back pain and pressure. The most concerning thing (while I wait fearing  an obstruction) is the sudden sensation of an extreme UTI with urgency to urinate and that accompanying horrible discomfort upon urination.

Months ago, I went to the ER in such pain I couldn't easily walk. The CAT scan was "Normal" but urine showed huge bacteria. They concluded a kidney infection and I was treated with antibiotics.

Everything resolved quickly (I finished the round of antibiotics) but the same scenario repeated weeks later but eventually resolved as it has time and time again since.

My primary says it could not have been a kidney infection as they do not resolve or disappear, they only get worse.

Gastro doc suggests adhesions.  They would not show up on scan.

Has anyone had  similar problems?  This has gotten so frequent and annoying that I keep AZO in my car. How sick is that?
