Hi Everyone,
I have had my J-Pouch now for about 7 years. I deal with Chronic Pouchitus daily. I am on Cipro and have been for a long time. The problem I am having now is extreme gas and pressure pains. I was just scoped a couple months ago and saw nothing but some inflamation. Anybody have any ideas on getting rid of this pain. I take GasX but it does not help. It usually begins everydaay about 3:00 P.M. and drives me crazy until I just have to go to bed where I am able to lay down and pass a little. Any ideas? Please!!!

Thank you Rocket. I will try the Beano but the other things I really never eat. Maybe beans once a week. I do take in a good bit of sugar and have read that can be a problem. I am trying to cut down on that. I am going to try the Beanno before every meal. Thanks for your help. This pouch has just been a nightmare for me since day one. I dont know how much longer I can take it.
peewee80,

I seem to get pouchitis once a year and the last one I had earlier this year lasted about 10 weeks or so but I didn't see my GI doctor right away either.

I too was on Cipro and Flagyl for 28 days and will see my GI next week. Last month, after I had been off the antibiotics for a month, he told me I just had inflamation. He wants me to continue to use the Canasa Suppository which is 1,000 mg on my script.

When you have Pouchitis, my GI said that Imodium is ineffective if you have the trots. I didn't know that.

My GI also gave a prescription called "Dicyclomine" which has 10mg. This drug is for those who have a problem passing Gas and for abdominal cramps.

The other thing to take is Activated Charcol which you take after you eat and with mine, I take it before bed because you have to wait 2 or 3 hrs after you eat. You can get this at any Health Food Store and probably some super markets.

Rocket
Thanks so much Rocket! I talked with the GI doctor this afternoon. They put me on Flagyl and Cipro. I am feeling some better gas is not as bad. They suggested I use Mylacon tablets. I think that was the name. I will try the charcoal. I am about 2 hours from a health food store but I will be going before to long. Again thanks so much for the info and your time.
