please explain why you are having this procedure and how will it help exactly?  I know someone that was supposed to get this procedure by Dr Shen due to a partial prolapse of the pouch but didn't hear getting this about soreness of the cuff? I have had a burning just inside my anus for 2 years now and when Dr Shen did my scope he stated nothing he could see to be the cause. He stated when getting a pouch redo the pouch sits closer to the anus therefore it get irritated very easily. It always feels like  butt burn and no creams or anything really helps, it just sucks

Hi, thanks for responding to my message.  I also have a partial prolapse of the pouch.  I have been having bleeding periodically.  Sometimes mild and sometimes severe.  Dr. Shen says it is coming from the cuff, just inside the anus and the problem is the prolapse.  I also have severe pain just inside the anus nearly always.  I do take a zizt (spelling?} bath occasionally which seems to help for a while.  Am not looking forward to the procedure of the rubber bands, so I so much would like to hear from anyone who has had this procedure and what the results are.  I know what you are going through and yes, it does suck.

Yeah I guess its the irritation that is causing me the pains. I had a redo so I don't have a cuff. is the prolapse causing you to not be able to let out stool?

Hi

I just got back from NYC to have Dr Shen do a scope as it has been 2 years since I have been checked.  I have a floppy pouch and he did do the bands.  6 in total.  When I woke up my rectum hurt.  I took tylenol right then and we did the 4 hour drive home.  I am hoping this helps my symptoms.  He says it is a treatment that can be done many times to help with this issue.  It definitely hurt when I woke up but nothing tylenol couldn't help.

Hi, Sandra D123 -  I opted not to travel to New York to see Dr. Shen.  I live in Colorado, traveling was not an option.  I did find a Gastroenterologist who was highly recommended and familiar with the J-pouch.  I have improved so much.  The pain and bleeding have stopped.  He had me take 4 capsules of the high probiotic Visobiome, every morning before I eat, which stopped the bleeding.  I am also taking 1 to 2 pills a day of Tramadol which controls the watery dirreaha, which helps the severe pain and burning. (It was recommended not to take more than 2 a day as it would constipate)  I hope this helps anyone who is having these systems.
