Finally, the surgery is done, I have a new stoma which I truly hope and pray will behave itself (didn't last night, but there's always an adjustment period, I know) and I can finally get better and leave all this mess behind. IV is out, nurses are on the phone wrangling with the home care & delivery people, doctor will be here by 15:00 for final check and long-suffering hubby will be here around 17:00 to get me. Looking forward to going home, also nervous about all the changes. One thing at a time, I guess.

I have soooo much to do: ordering things and getting used to this new permanent life. Ack!

I guess that congratulations are in order Gin?

I sincerly hope that this works out for you better than the previous solutions and that you can finally get your life back.

Be patient with yourself and your new stoma, it will take some time and effort to figure things out...and please for the love of G-d, do not overdo it!

Let things go for a while, find a cleaning lady or enlist the family to do ALL of the chores, cooking, cleaning etc and Heal!!!

Hope that this is the final surgery and that you can live freely and pain free.

GinLyn, I don't know how I missed your post but I'm glad you're on this side and healing. Oh, it's an adjustment all right, but the day will come when you'll feel you're "back." Like Sharon said, go slowly and let yourself heal. Continue to measure your stoma even after the eight week mark (or is it six? Can't remember.) It will keep shrinking. Sample supplies. Drink lots of your favorite drink (wine doesn't count!) Let stuff go and remember to be ok with it. Please ask on here or PM me with any specific questions. You're going to do just fine!

Welcome!

Life is good on this side!

I've had mine two and a half months.. .. I am a newbie at this also.  But... I am pain and med free!

Adjustments do come but you will figure them.

Hey.... If I can do it... Anybody can do it.

And I am serious when I say that.

Again... Welcome to health... And feeling good again!

Richard.
